Acupuncture is a service we offer that could be covered by your insurance. Acupuncture has been shown to reduce stress, reduce physical pain, improve your immune system, enhance mental clarity, increase energy, reduce cigarette cravings and can lead to fewer physical injuries. Acupuncture, when used in conjunction with mental health/addiction treatment, has shown great increases in the overall wellbeing of our guests.
Studies have found that massage can lower your anxiety, help with digestive disorders, help you manage the pain from fibromyalgia, reduce headaches, help with insomnia as well as help with joint pain and sports related injuries. A massage is also a great way to decrease the fear of the unknown and change. This can be beneficial when transitioning to a new facility.
Yoga: As part of our holistic approach, we contract with professional yoga instructors. Yoga can have the following benefits: increased flexibility, increased muscle strength and tone, improved energy, maintaining a balanced metabolism, weight reduction, cardio health and improved athletic performance.
The benefits of exercise are endless, from decreasing depression to an overall sense of wellbeing. All of our guests at 12 South Recovery are given gym memberships to our local gym. Our guests are encouraged to attend the gym 3 times a week. Exercising has been proven to increase self-esteem and self-confidence. When you feel good about yourself, your chances of relapse drop dramatically.
12 South Recovery enjoys engaging their guests in an outdoor setting. Our Adventure Therapy program allows our guests to process what is currently going on in their life in combination with an outdoor setting and activity. Our guests may enjoy kayaking on the ocean to work on mindfulness or rock climbing to work on perseverance. This experiential type of therapy has been proven to give our guests a healthy way to process any obstacles that they might come across in their recovery.
