Adventure therapy is a form of experiential therapy that utilizes various outdoor activities to overcome addiction, mental health disorders and various types of self-destructive behavior. These activities are conducted under the supervision of a mental health care professional and provide clients with a safe and encouraging environment where they take a deeper look at how they manage their emotions, explore how they work within a team environment and receive constructive feedback.

SURF THERAPY FOR ADDICTION

Surf Therapy, or Ocean Therapy, is a very recent development in psychotherapy treatment. Today, addiction psychiatrists find relevant uses for Surf Therapy to treat substance abuse disorders and co-occurring disorders associated with drug addiction. As the name implies, Surf Therapy utilizes the ocean for its mental health benefits, such as increasing self-efficacy, alleviating insomnia, and improving cognitive concentration.

ROCK CLIMBING

Rock climbing is one of the best ways to nurture all elements of our being - body, mind, and spirit. This activity consists of much more than just upper-body strength. In addition to building muscle mass, climbing involves fun problem-solving skills. One of the reasons climbing is so helpful for addiction recovery is that the focus and problem solving required compels one to be in the moment, decreasing  stress and leaving one feeling energized and relaxed.

HIKING

Hiking allows our guests to reconnect with nature and thus enhance and develop both their psychological and physical being. In addition, many people in addiction recovery first recognize their connection with spirituality while hiking.
